IBU REGIONAL EVENTS 2026/2027

The IBU has released the Regional Event Calendar for the summer season 2026/2027 IBU has decided to support 17 Summer Regional Events in season 2026/2027. These events are held in 7 different regions;

• Asia

• Central-East Europe

• North Europe

• South Europe

• West Europe

• North America

• Oceania

The project aims to support NFs to implement good quality international competitions for young athletes based on international cooperation. Furthermore, it strives to increase the activity and efficiency of biathlon federations/associations and clubs in promoting biathlon among children and youth.

IBU Qualifying Points in IBU Regional Summer Events

To be recognized as an IBU Regional Event or another eligible national event where IBU Qualifying Points can be earned, competitions must meet the criteria defined in the IBU Regional Event Guidelines.

IBU Qualifying Points are calculated using one of two methods: - Variable Race Penalty - Reference Time (fallback method) A detailed description of both calculation methods is available in the IBU QP Calculation Document for the respective season.

The Variable Race Penalty method also applies to roller-ski competitions (summer and winter), provided the Regional Event criteria are fulfilled and all participants compete using identical roller skis.

The calculation model will be implemented for the 2026/27 season wherever applicable, provided that competition formats and distances comply with the IBU Event and Competition Rules (ECR).

All of the IBU Regional Summer Events are considered to be recognized as a Qualification event. The final decision on Qualifcation Points will be made after each event.

Note that only Sprint, Individual and Short Individual competition are subject to IBU QP calculation.
