Seidl and Kink win in the Short Individual in Lake Placid

Elias Seidl and Julia Kink, both of Germany, won in the Short Individual at the IBU Cup in Lake Placid, USA. It was a first-ever individual win in the IBU Cup for Seidl.

Franz Schaser was in the lead after the first shooting and set the trend for the day, as the German athletes never let go of the lead, with Seidl first after the second and final shooting and Simon Kaiser after the third. Seidl, with 18/20, won in 40:16.1. He was 5.5 seconds faster than Schaser (18/20) in second place and 13.5 seconds faster than another German, Roman Rees (18/20), in third.

Gaetan Paturel of France, fifth in today’s race, leads the Total Score standings with 728 points, 18 ahead of his teammate Damien Levet.

Kink, a sole 20/20 shooter of the day among women

Kink, whose previous IBU Cup win also came in the Short Individual in Martell-Val Martello in the 2023/2024 season, took the lead after the third shooting and won in 39:06. Gro Randby (17/20) of Norway, the fastest skier of the day, finished 1:04.9 behind the winner. Guro Ytterhus (18/20), also of Norway, rounded out the podium in third place, 1:06.1 behind Kink.

Paula Botet of France retained her lead in the Total Score standings.
