The IBU continues its commitment to strengthening the sport of biathlon by supporting a wide range of development projects for the 2025/26 season from its national federations' members (NFs). With the goal of doubling the number of athletes, closing the competition gap, fostering innovation and inclusivity, the IBU is proud to announce substantial funding and outreach that will positively impact the biathlon family.

These figures reflect the growing engagement and ambition within the biathlon community to invest in development and grassroots growth.
The IBU’s development support spans a diverse range of initiatives designed to address key strategic priorities, like youth engagement, inclusivity, environmental sustainability, and capacity building across member federations. A total of 118 projects were approved across the following categories:

In a strong show of commitment to Para Biathlon, 12 projects from 11 NFs have also been awarded funding totaling €144,050. These initiatives aim to increase accessibility and support for Para athletes, furthering the IBU’s goal of a more inclusive biathlon family.
A second, limited funding call is anticipated to open in late summer 2025. National Federations will be informed accordingly and encouraged to submit proposals aligned with IBU development objectives.
