THE WINNER’S WORDS - VOLDIYA GALMACE PAULIN

It is amazing to win the IBU Cup competition for the first time in my career! I had a good feeling on the skis. I was a bit nervous during the last standing shooting. It is a great day for France as we are five in the Top 6. We might have a little party tonight.

France dominated the top six, with Amandine Mengin in fourth, Sophie Chauveau in fifth, and Gilonne Guigonnat in sixth. Chauveau, despite three missed targets, managed to stay in the top five with strong skiing. Mengin and Guigonnat, both with a single penalty, ensured a strong French presence at the top.

Galmace Paulin took the lead in the IBU Cup Total Score with 732 points, 33 ahead of Camille Bened.

Zobel clinches Ridnaun’s Sprint

Zobel shot clean and completed the course in 23:43.8, securing victory by 2.9 seconds - it was the second time in 2024/2025 that a win didn’t go to one of the Norwegian athletes. Norway’s Sivert Guttorm Bakken, despite two penalties, claimed second place with the fastest skiing time. Surprise of the day - Paul Schommer of the USA - finished third, just 5.0 seconds behind the winner, with one missed shot.

THE WINNER’S WORDS - DAVID ZOBEL

Perfect day, perfect snow, perfect conditions. It feels great to clear all 10 targets and be on the top of the podium again. Prone shooting was actually quite tough today due to the strong wind. As for the standing, I have used my coach’s advice - to imagine I am shooting on the prone targets. It worked! I feel tired and will use tomorrow’s off day to rest. Then, full-on in the Pursuit and Mass Start. Let’s go!

Sweden’s Anton Ivarsson took fourth, trailing by 19.6 seconds after a single penalty. Another Norwegian, Johannes Dale-Skjevdal, placed fifth with three misses, 22.7 seconds off the pace. Moldova’s Maksim Makarov secured sixth place, 27.0 seconds behind, with one penalty.
