The IBU announced the initial basic course in the new Coach Education Programme which will have 4 levels in total: basic, first, second, and third level. From 3-8 April 2022, the pilot basic course is held, consisting of 6 days of education in the Sports Centre Salzburg-Rif in Austria.

Well-known experts and coaches in the fields of biathlon and sports science will present their knowledge to a maximum of 20 coaches who will be nominated by the National Federations. Theoretical and practical lessons on the topics of skiing, shooting, physiology, equipment, motor skills training, coaches soft skills, rules & organization, and training science will be part of this pilot course.
