Perrot, Jeanmonnot, Fak, Michelon headline Dresden City Biathlon; Boe Brothers in Legends Race

City Biathlon returns to Dresden this Sunday for its 2025 edition with another international field including 2024 men’s champion Jakov Fak battling French stars Eric Perrot and Quentin Fillon Maillet among others. The women’s field sports IBU World Cup Total Score runner-up Lou Jeanmonnot, her teammate IBU Under 23 Champion Oceane Michelon and 2024 third place finisher Karoline Offigstad Knotten. There is also a real treat for fans as Johannes Thingnes and Tarjei Boe, the recently retired Norwegian superstars, will compete in the Legends Race.

German competitors Philipp Nawrath, Justus Strelow, Philipp Horn, Vanessa Voigt, and Julia Tannheimer are in the field will give the local fans five more reasons to cheer loud and hard.

Fak, “If you want it, think you can do it…anything is possible”

Defending champion Fak heads the men’s field, after sprinting past five-time IBU World Cup Total Score winner JT Boe and Strelow for the victory last September. The Slovenian later claimed his ninth World Cup victory at home in Pokljuka last March, finishing 10th in the Total Score, his best ranking in 7 seasons. The 38-year-old veteran boasts 90% shooting and a positive attitude. “If you want it, think you can do it, try to do it…then anything is possible.”

Perrot and Fillon Maillet

Perrot, who won the Blink Super Sprint and finished second in the Mass Start, and double Olympic Champion Fillon Maillet will also be shooting for the win. Like Fak, Perrot stays positive, seeing summer competitions as good preparation for the upcoming season, “a time to hunt under pressure, shoot fast, and have the feel of competition.”

Nawrath, Strelow, and Horn, the top-ranked Germans, will test their summer training a week before the highly competitive German Championships in Arber.

Voigt vs. Jeanmonnot, Michelon

Voigt returns to competition after sitting out more than half of last season; her 90%+ shooting makes her a contender against the strong French duo of Jeanmonnot and Michelon. Jeanmonnot’s Blink Super Sprint win and Mass Start second, like Perrot showed her readiness for this week’s competition, making her the favorite. At the same time, rising star Michelon can never be underestimated after her surprising 5th in the Total Score and IBU WCH Mass Start Silver medal. Beyond these three, watch 20-year-old rapidly improving Tannheimer and sharp-shooting Knotten who is following her own training program outside the Norwegian team this year.

JT and Tarjei

Although these World Cup stars will take most of the spotlight, the Legends Race boasts JT and Tarjei Boe in their likely final appearance on the big stage. Their appearance alone could overshadow the main competitions. Stay tuned; Sunday afternoon should be fun!
