Norway’s Tarjei Boe promptly announced his retirement after his first-ever victory at Antholz this afternoon in the Men’s 10 km Sprint. The elder Boe brother’s retirement, effective at season’s end, comes just days after his brother Johannes Thingnes Boe said he would step away this coming March in Oslo.
Norway’s Tarjei Boe was a bit slower than his rivals through the prone stage of this afternoon’s Antholz Men’s 10 km sprint, but he cleaned standing lightning fast, holding off teammate Sturla Holm Laegreid by .4 seconds for a 23:51 victory. Just minutes after his 15th career win and first in Antholz, the 36-year-old announced his pending retirement at season’s end, like his younger brother. Tarjei’s 15th career win was his second of the season, previously winning the Annecy Le Grand Bornand Mass Start just before Christmas.
