Freelance Vacancy: Social Content Creator & Editor (Remote)
After a record-breaking 2025-2026 season on its Social Media channels, the International Biathlon Union is looking for 1-2 Social Content Creators & Editors to support its digital team across the 2026-27 season.
We’re looking for someone who is comfortable working across much of the social content process: finding the right moments, editing quickly, adapting content for different platforms, and publishing to our channels.
You’ll work remotely along with the IBU digital team, our on-site content creators, and other freelancers, using competition footage, athlete content, archive material, and other assets to create content for IBU’s social channels.
A big part of the role consists of support on competition days, but we’re also looking for someone who is able to deliver before and after event weeks - whether that’s athlete stories, archive content, explainers, recurring formats or other planned social content.
1) What you'll be doing
The role will cover a mixture of editing, day-to-day content production from remote and publishing.
During competition periods, you’ll support the team with fast-turnaround edits and publishing, reacting to what is happening around the races and helping us get the strongest moments onto the right platforms.
Outside the competition days, you’ll help us ensure regular and strong output beyond the competition windows.
2) What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who understands social content first and foremost and who knows their way around the Adobe Suite; primarily Premiere, occasionally PS.
You should have:
Strong working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro or comparable editing software
A portfolio showing high-quality short-form social video.
Experience creating and publishing content on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Youtube.
A good understanding of hooks, pacing and retention curves.
The ability to spot a good story or social moment in raw and competition footage.
Creativity and a finger on the pulse of trending content.
Confidence working independently and as part of a remote team.
Good organisation and communication skills.
Professional-level English.
You don’t need to be a biathlon expert – but some baseline knowledge will speed up the zeroing.
Bonus points if you are experienced working in:
Live sports or fast-moving live event environments.
Broadcast footage and remote editing workflows.
Publishing across several platforms and adapting content for the respective audience.
Titles, thumbnails, basic YouTube SEO.
Working with international teams across different countries and time zones.
The type of person we’re looking for
We want someone who looks at footage, broadcasts and sports and asks:
"What’s the story? What’s the strongest moment? Why would someone care about this? What’s the best way to tell this on TikTok, Instagram or YouTube? How do I make this shareable and relatable?"
General Information:
The workload for this remote freelance position will vary depending on the competition calendar November 2026 - March 2027.
Shift system applies in select weeks
Availability will be required for selected race weekends, including some evenings and weekends as well as during the week.
You’ll work closely with the IBU digital team and our wider network of on-site and remote contributors
Exact working days, availability and freelance rates will be agreed with successful candidate(s)
