Roeiseland out for the remainder of 2022

In a press release earlier this afternoon, the Norwegian Biathlon Federation and Marte Olsbu Roeiseland announced that the defending World Cup Total Score champion will not be at the start gate in Kontiolahti.

After a hugely successful last winter, Marte Olsbu Roeiseland will miss the opening competitions of the new season in Kontiolahti (FIN).

"This is a test of patience. I simply need to take time and take it slowly. For now, my body isn't ready for tough competitions and that is why I'm going to stay home", Roeiseland explained. The Norwegian has skipped competitions this autumn and is now planning to train at her own pace and wait for the body to start responding to more intense training sessions.

Earlier this autumn, it had already been announced that Roeiseland's teammate Tiril Eckhoff will also be missing the first competitions of this winter. UPDATE: Roeiseland will also miss the competition weeks in Hochfilzen and Le Grand Bornand.

"This is, of course, very dull and not something I wished for. More than anything else, I wanted to compete together with the rest of the team but my body isn't where it should be. Health comes first. My focus remains on the World Championships and so I have to take the time I need", Roeiseland said in a press release sent by the Norwegian Biathlon Federation earlier today.
