Technical Committee Meeting Spring 2024

The 64th Technical Committee meeting was held in Salzburg, Austria, on 22-24 May 2024. It covered many annual decisions from a sport-technical perspective, such as competition schedule approvals, Event and Competition Rule adjustments, and Referee and venue licensing topics.

The TC also focused on the mid-and long-term development of the sport of biathlon in line with IBU’s strategic goals to secure future appeal and success, including the following ones:

1 “Closing the gap” – develop the performance level broadly

2 “Enhancing our events” – make the sport appealing for future generations Constructive and open-minded discussions paved the way for further steps, always keeping the sport at its core with fairness and equality as underlying principles. Tomi-Pekka Riihivuori stepped down from his position as a member of the TC due to his full-time engagement with IBU in the field of Para Biathlon.
