IBU Congress: Pokljuka (SLO) to host in 2021 and Oberhof (GER) in 2023

Poreč, 09 September 2018: The 13th regular IBU Congress awarded the IBU World Championships for the years 2021 and 2023 during its final day of sessions. In addition, the Congress voted for Prague, Czech Republic, to host the 14th Regular IBU Congress in 2020.

New IBU president Olle Dahlin (SWE) began the final day of sessions in Porec, Croatia, by opening the floor to the bidding committee for the IBU World Championships 2021 from Pokljuka. The Slovenian venue was the only candidate and the Congress awarded the IBU World Championships 2021 to Pokljuka with 49-1 votes.

Afterwards both bidding committees of the IBU World Championships 2023, Nove Mesto na Morave (CZE) and Oberhof (GER), held their presentations infront of the delegates. The Congress awarded the IBU World Championships 2023 to the German venue in Thuringia with 28 votes for Oberhof and 21 votes for Nove Mesto Na Morave.

As a final decision of the day, the Congress awarded the 14th Regular IBU Congress to Prague (CZE). 37 votes were cast for the Czech Capital, 12 votes were cast for Zlatibor (SRB).

This afternoon, the newly elected IBU Executive Board will hold its constitutive meeting.
