Ruhpolding Men's Sprint Rescheduled

The Men’s 10km Sprint in Ruhpolding has been postponed to Thursday 17 January at 11am following confirmation from the administration of the district of Traunstein that a state of emergency in the region will be maintained at least until Wednesday 16 January due to very heavy snowfall. The race had been due to take place on Wednesday.

Borut Nunar, IBU Race Director World Cup said:

_“The International Biathlon Union together with the Ruhpolding Organising Committee are positive that all planned competitions can be held in the Chiemgau Arena in Ruhpolding. However, the competition schedule needs to be adapted due to the situation in the district of Traunstein. Currently, it is planned to hold the Men’s 10km Sprint on Thursday, 17 January 2019, at 11 am before the Women’s 7.5 km Sprint.” _

The region of Traunstein has seen heavy snowfall in the last two weeks and a state of emergency was declared last week in order to guarantee the safety of the citizens and to mobilise additional state support and manpower to maintain the infrastructure.
