Denis Irodov of Russia, shooting 19/20 for his only miss in three competitions, demonstrated a rare mixture of great talent with maturity beyond his years for a win in youth men 10 km pursuit. It is his third consecutive gold which makes him the most successful athlete of the IBU Youth/Junior World Championships in the individual competitions. Earlier in the day Lena Repinc of Slovenia doubled down on her sprint win to shoot 18/20 and triumph in the youth women 7.5 km pursuit for her second gold medal and her third altogether in Obertilliach

Irodov performed with great confidence from the start to finish, missing just once, in the first standing shooting. He was incredible 1:27.0 faster than silver medallist Marcin Zawol of Poland who had two misses and 1:34.6 than bronze medallist Oscar Anderson who had four misses and won first medal for Sweden in Obertilliach.

Fourth was clean-shooting Jaša Zidar of Slovenia, 1:55.0 behind Irodov, fifth Switzerland’s Yanis Keller with one miss, 3.6 seconds behind ZIdar and sixth Marco Barale of Italy who missed four times and was 2:07.2 behind the winner from Russia.

Well measured performance brings second gold to Repinc

Just like Irodov, Repinc was leading from start to finish, missing once in each standing shooting and managing her energy with great care and skill. Missing just once, in the second standing shooting, Martina Trabucchi of Italy won silver, 14.9 seconds behind Repinc while attacking Lind Zingerle, also of Italy, despite five misses, backed up her silver from the sprint with a bronze, just 26.0 seconds behind Repinc.

Fany Bertrand of France, with four misses, repeated her fourth place from the sprint, Sara Andersson of Sweden, with three misses, was fifth and Kaja Zorc of Slovenia, with three misses and the fastest last lap, finished sixth, just like in the sprint.
