International Biathlon Union relocates to new headquarters

The International Biathlon Union (IBU) has relocated to a new, modern headquarters in order to increase its operational capacity as it progresses on the implementation of Target 26 – the sport’s first-of-its-kind strategic plan.

The IBU headquarters will remain in Austria but relocate to the Salzburg suburb of Anif at the former offices of SONY DADC Europe Limited. The modern office is equipped with all the necessary facilities and space to accommodate the IBU’s growing administrative team, including the recently set up Development Department and reorganised Sports & Events Department.

The IBU had spent 14 years in the previous office and required an upgrade in order to maximise efficiencies and ensure the IBU is well-positioned to be able to achieve the federation’s objectives as set out in Target 26. While the office will be open from today, the office will not yet be fully staffed due to COVID-19 self-distancing regulations. The IBU remains fully operational throughout this period with staff working from home and the office on rotation.

IBU Secretary General Niklas Carlsson said:

“Working in partnership with the whole biathlon family, the IBU developed Target 26 to guide our future and ensure that we achieve our sport’s enormous potential. In order to achieve these ambitious but achievable targets we need expand our team and operational capacity and moving to a new headquarters is critical in allowing us to do that.

“Our new office will help strengthen the IBU as an organisation and allow us to better serve our athletes, National Federations and all stakeholders. The team has been working hard over the past few months to ensure we continue to operate as normal during this period of self-isolation. But I look forward to working with my colleagues in person at our new office in the coming weeks.”
