IBU EB agrees support for organisers and finalises competition schedules

The IBU Executive Board (EB) established principles to provide financial support to the Organising Committees that lost significant revenues at the end of the 2019/2020 winter season due to restrictions or cancellations caused by COVID-19.

The decision was taken during EB meeting, which was conducted via videoconference. The EB also discussed the potential impact of COVID-19 on its upcoming events, including the Summer Biathlon World Championships in Ruhpolding (20-23 August) and this year’s IBU Congress in Prague (10-13 September), on which a final decision is expected to be taken at the next EB Meeting on 6-7 June.

The EB also rubberstamped the competition schedule for the IBU Cup and the IBU Junior Cup following last month’s announcement of the IBU World Cup competition schedule for the 2020/21 season (All schedules can be found here). Given the dynamics and uncertainties of the current situation, the IBU is continuing to plan for a number of different potential scenarios in order to ensure it can provide the best possible conditions for athletes and all stakeholders.
