IBU Congress concludes with 25 years of IBU Gala Dinner

After a crucial week for the International Biathlon Union, the 13th Regular IBU Congress finished with a gala dinner dedicated to the first 25 years of the International Biathlon Union.

After an opening speech by acting IBU Acting Secretary General Martin Kuchenmeister, surprise host Darya Domracheva of Belarus led the 200 attending guests through the evening, culminating in the presentation of the IBU Gold Medals of Honour to Esa Hapaala of Finland, Ole Einar Bjoerndalen of Norway and Darya Domracheva of Belarus.

I have to say - it was interesting and absolutely different experience for me. Far from I have done before on a ski-track during my athlete carier. I would like to thank IBU for this opportunity for me, for opportunity and honour to host an IBU 25 YEARS ANYVERSARY GALA EVENING. And ofcourse BIG THANKS for surprise of the evening for me - a MEDAL OF HONOUR OF IBU! 25 years since IBU was founded and 25-26 years since I began my trainings. The IBU Ring of Honour was awarded to Hans Hobi of Germany.

The IBU Virtual Gallery was presented and officially launched. The newly elected IBU President Olle Dahlin rounded off the evening by thanking the delegates from IBU member federations at the 13th Regular IBU Congress for their attendance, and wishing all the member federations a successful coming winter season.
