Flashback Friday: More than Biathlon

After checking the cooking and gaming skills of our biathletes, our weekly appointment with the best from our video archive is taking us back to the sport. However, this Friday is dedicated to the times when our athletes proved their skills in sports different from biathlon.

Not long ago, for example, on IBU Cup, Simon Fourcade and Simon Hallstroem faced each other in a very typical sport from Tyrol: Eisstockschiessen. If you are not familiar with it, you should still watch the intense battle between the two namesakes.

If you thought it looks like curling, it does and it does not… but just for the sake of comparison, we also organized a game of curling, featuring two mixed teams. For Switzerland Elisa Gasparin and Mario Dolder faced Team GB Amanda Lightfoot and Scott Dixon on the neutral ground of Oslo, Norway. Did the inventors of the sport win or were they overtaken by their Alpine rivals?

Staying in Norway, a few years ago, Antonin Guigonnat and Aristide Begue were sharing their training camp with the Paralympic team of France and we tested their ability to shoot without the support of their sight. Anthony Chalencon, Paralympic champion with the relay in Pyeongchang 2018, was their mentor.

At last, we got to see a little of summer past times, when Lukas Hofer took us flying with his paraglide. For the ones who don’t know it, he is not only a keen paraglider, but he has the license to take people flying with him too. It was a thrilling experience to fly over their training camp base in the Italian alps.
