Canmore Sprint Competitions Cancelled; Athletes Vs. Cold Video
Both Sprint competitions at the BMW IBU World Cup Canmore have been cancelled after a jury meeting on Sunday morning (local time).
The temperatures in Canmore will remain around -20 degrees Celsius for most of the day. Thus, the competition jury decided to cancel the sprint competitions for both Men and Women.
Due to the cold weather the originally scheduled mass starts had been changed to sprints -- however, freezing temperatures didn't allow any competitions on Saturday or Sunday.
Our video, "Athletes Vs. Cold" offers a feel for how the athletes have dealt with and prepared for the frigid weather this past week.
The BMW IBU World Cup circuit returns to action on Thursday with the women’s sprint at Soldier Hollow, site of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Midway, Utah.
