The first camp was held at the Olympics 2026 venue in Antholz (ITA). Under the supervision of Matthias Ahrens (CAN) and Martina Zellner (GER), a well-balanced training week was offered, supported by several IBU-Academy coaches. In addition, Anais Bescond, ex-biathlete and Olympic Gold medalist, joined the camp as a role model. Besides the training sessions, Lucie Rothauer and Katharina Gatterer from the Biathlon Integrity Unit (BIU) informed about Anti-Doping and Safeguarding, and Gerold Sattlecker presented research results from biathlon shooting.
OC Oberhof (GER) hosted 90 young athletes from 20 nations, also from leading NFs, at the International Youth Camp as a legacy of WCHs Oberhof 2023. Before the start of the new season, the youngsters completed intensive training sessions with experienced coaches and looked behind the scenes for the IBU World Championships 2023 preparation. Zibi Szlufcik, DSV head coach for young biathlon athletes, was the main organiser of this camp, assisted by Denny Andritzke, Norbert Baier, Sven Fischer, Gina Gautier, Florian Graf, Tim Meyer, and Franziska Werl. In addition, Olympic Champion Kati Wilhelm held an excellent presentation about her successful career. Also, the participants exchanged views on sports nutrition with nutritionist Helena Engel, and Amelie Heinrich highlighted current topics in sports psychology.
The last camp was held from 26 November to 3 December in Martell (ITA). The head coaches, Armin Kasslatter (ITA) and Matthias Ahrens (CAN) planned and executed a 7-days camp, supported by Carlos Lannes (ESP) and Velko Lozanoski (NMKD) as IBU-Academy coaches. Former World Champion Dominik Windisch joined as a role model and shared his knowledge with participants. Katharina Gatterer from the BIU presented valuable details about safeguarding.
