Lisa Vittozzi Wins Oslo Mass Start with Powerful Last Loop
Italy’s Lisa Vittozzi fell from contention with a first prone penalty in this afternoon’s Oslo Holmenkollen Women’s 12.5 km Mass Start, dropping to 16th, 34 seconds off the lead. She then rebounded with three clean stages. starting the last loop just behind leader Hanna Oeberg of Sweden. The Olympic Pursuit Champion powered to victory with a brilliant last loop, passing the Swede in the last uphill and sprinting to her first-ever World Cup Mass Start win in 34:58.9.
Hanna with a single penalty in the last standing stage finished second,4.2 seconds back. Czechia’s Tereza Vobornikova, also with one penalty finished third, 17.2 seconds back equaling her lifetime best that she set in winning the Olympic Mass Start Bronze medal 4 weeks ago.
