Mona Brorsson says farewell to biathlon

Over the course of the past weekend, the Swedish team saw the retirement of two household names who have been with the team through thick and thin. Mona Brorsson and Peppe Femling, both Olympic relay champions received emotional goodbyes from their teammates, friends and the whole biathlon family.

Brorsson in particular has seen it all from the early building blocks of the Swedish women’s team, which didn’t even have a relay in the 2014 Olympic Winter Games until their ascent to the top of the world, winning Nation Cups, Relay Trophies and perhaps culminating in the Olympic Relay victory in Beijing 2022.

The Swede contributed to the rebuilding of the team massively, on the tracks as well as away from the shooting range, creating an environment rooted in respect where everyone can thrive and get along at the same time – lagets Mamma och världens bästa Mona (the mum of the team and the world’s best Mona).

We caught up with Brorsson – and some of the people who have been along for the ride with her:
