IBU STAFF CLIMATE CHALLENGE 2024: GOING THE EXTRA MILE FOR THE PLANET

For the second year running, the IBU staff have come together in the Staff Climate Challenge to collect money in preparation for this year’s Business Run on the 12th of September 2024. By using Active Giving, an app that tracks and then converts physical activity into money, we were able to collect a total sum of €2.500 that was donated to the Österreichischer Alpenverein – ÖAV (Austrian Alpine Association)

Supporting the ÖAV with a €2,500 Donation

This year IBU has decided to donate the collected money to the ÖAV. This donation will support the organization’s vital work in preserving Austria’s alpine landscapes, promoting responsible mountain tourism, and fostering education on climate awareness. The ÖAV plays a crucial role in conserving natural habitats and educating the public on sustainable practices, and we are more than happy to contribute to their mission.

This year’s highlights

The staff´s enthusiasm for the climate challenge even exceeded last year. In the two months of preparation 277 sporty activities were logged, which are 30 more than in the previous challenge. Eighteen staff members used a combination of biking, hiking, running and yoga to collect the money. In addition, a total of 180.000 kcal were burned off during the preparation.

Business Run Salzburg

The 12th of September showed that all the training and preparation for the Business Run paid off. Four Teams started their run, and not even the pouring rain was able to stop them. The Team Challengers reached the podium by coming in 3rd in the women´s category. The Staff Climate Challenge showed once again, the importance of collaboration in sustainability and environmental protection. With each year, the collective impact grows, and we’re already looking forward to the next Staff Climate Challenge.
