DAV Ulm wins Viessmann IBU Climate Club Trophy

Congratulations to the Deutscher Alpenverein - Sektion Ulm for winning a voucher for a Viessmann climate solution worth EUR 24,000.

After numerous applications with great sustainable club initiatives, the winner was determined last week after a fan vote on the top 3 projects. With almost 10,000 biathlon fans participating in the vote, the Deutscher Alpenverein - Sektion Ulm prevailed in the end and can now look forward to the value voucher for a Viessmann climate solution.

Once again, we would like to thank all the clubs that are already implementing sustainable initiatives in their clubs and have submitted these projects. We would also like to thank all fans and the biathlon community who have participated in the voting and paid attention to the sustainable efforts.

Top 3 Club initiatives

Craftsbury Outdoor Center (Vermont, USA) - "Minimizing the impact on the local ecological systems"

The Craftsbury Outdoor Center has implemented different initiatives and projects to minimise the impact of the sport activities on the ecological system. From a complex snow depot storage system, solar panels for energy savings, facility energy management up to carbon footprint monitoring the club and outdoor center have developed different ways to be more sustainable and to protect the climate.

Deutscher Alpenverein (Ulm, Germany) - "Nachhaltigkeit daheim & on the road"

The German association Deutscher Alpenverein - Section Ulm has installed a cistern that collects surface water at the biathlon center, providing resources for snow making. In addition, they collect used projectiles to sell them and to support the youth teams. A cold training hall and the planned installation of a heat pump are further sustainable initiatives of Deutscher Alpenverein.

ASV Martell (Martell, Italy) - "Hydroelectric power plant for green electricity"

At the beginning of this winter season, the ASV Martell was able to switch completely to green electricity thanks to a hydroelectric power plant. This delivers green electricity for the biathlon facility and moreover for the snow production and also the administration building and provides a good example for a sustainable and resource-saving initiative.
