Favourite summer destination 2023

After four winter months, many athletes like to tank the sun before starting the preparations for the coming season. Egypt, South Africa, and Croatia were popular destinations. Tired of travelling, some prefer to stay at home, enjoying the comfort of their families and closest friends. And some are simply dreaming.

Julia Simon: Home with friends

"I am not really a travelling girl. I like being at home with friends. I would go to Italy for the food and to Alaska for skiing."

Sophie Chauveau: Egypt!

”Hey, hey! It depends on how warm is the summer. 😅 After the season -and during the spring - I love to go somewhere warm because, after winter, I only want to soak in the sun and nothing else. That's why I went to Egypt in April; it was amazing! 😍 But for summer, sometimes it gets even too warm in France, so I would prefer to go somewhere else where it’s not so warm and where I can train really well! So Canada would be my dream during summer for a few reasons. I want to go on a road trip to this beautiful country, see the incredible landscapes, and try all the food, especially the maple syrup with pancakes 🤫😂. Canadians are also quite friendly people! And I think they have good infrastructure, so maybe training wouldn't be so hard and monotonous 😂”

Renars Birkentals: Dreaming of South Africa

”My dream destination for the holidays would be South Africa 🇿🇦. I'm always on the go, even in the off-season. I like to spend my time doing something active🤸🏼‍♂️ and this place offers all of it. 🤩 Beautiful beaches. 🌊 I have never tried surfing: that would be on my bucket list. 🏄🏼‍♂️ Hiking, site seeing. It is a land of beautiful animals. 🐘 I'm also a big cycling fan, so I would take my bike and explore the famous Cape Town trails. 🚵🏽‍♂️ And of course, like all places, it has its own culture. It would be interesting to get to know their traditions.✨️”

”Hmm, I don’t have any dream holiday place, more people I want to be with. I think that if I can be surrounded by family and my friends, then I can be almost everywhere😋😉”

Deedra Irwin: Wisconsin is where home and family are

”My dream holiday destination for summer would be back home in Wisconsin with my family! I don't get to see them as often as I would like because I train mostly in Vermont. When I get to go home, it's always a party with my family 🥳 🍻 🥰”

Tommy Giacomel: Australia!

”Australia would be my choice. I have always been inspired by this country although getting there is not so easy.😅 But all the pictures I see of Australia seem pretty attractive!!”

Michal Krcmar: Croatia!

”I like Croatia very much because I like the sea there. For example, Rovinj in Istria is a… perfect place. Or some quiet mountain place with a cottage and a nearby lake for refreshment. Just listening to the peace and not being disturbed by anybody:)”
