France claims Youth Olympic Single Mixed Gold

With a dominant display across all four legs, France's Alice Dusserre and Antonin Guy claimed Gold in the Single Mixed Relay at the Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon. Germany and Norway completed the podium in the silver and bronze positions respectively.

Alice Dusserre and Antonin Guy barely put a foot wrong in their Gold-medal-winning performance at the Alpensia Biathlon Centre. The 17-year-olds only required 5 spare bullets in total to bring home the victory and led the competition at all three exchanges.

“After the first part of the race, I saw that Alice was in first position so I knew that it was a good day for her and I thought I have to do a good race to give the relay to Alice in the best position I can when she takes on her part of the race.” - Antonin Guy

For Guy, it is the second Gold medal in two competitions and France only surrendered the lead for a short while when he had to reload two bullets at his first prone shooting.

Germany and Norway recover from slow starts

Germany's Marie Keudel and Norway's Eiril Nordboe handed over to their teammates in 11th and 10th place respectively after the first leg but both teams managed to roll through the field slowly but surely - until Korbi Kuebler held off Storm Veitsle on the home straight to secure silver for Germany. Italy remained in touching distance to a medal finish but two penalty loops at the final shooting relegated them into 5th place behind Switzerland.
