Lenzerheide 2025: A Resounding Success On and Off the Tracks

Swiss-Ski and the LOC announced the positive financial outcome of the BMW IBU World Championships Biathlon Lenzerheide 2025. The Championships dazzled with sporting records, 85,200 spectators, 860 volunteers, and flawless execution, achieving financial success without tapping into reserved funds. The Championships served as a model of sustainability and teamwork, and their legacy continues with the IBU World Cup returns in the 2028/2029 season.

From 12 to 23 February 2025, the BMW IBU World Championships Biathlon welcomed:

- 85,200 spectators

- 860 volunteers

- And the world’s top biathletes, creating an unforgettable celebration of winter sport.

💰 Financial Highlights

- Total budget: CHF 10.58 million

- Public contributions used: CHF 4 million

- Unused pledged funds: CHF 982,000 – thanks to prudent cost management

- Support: Swiss Army and Civil Defence provided essential logistical assistance

“We are very pleased to conclude our World Championships on a positive financial note,” said Stefan Engler, President of the Biathlon-WM 2025 Lenzerheide Association. “Special thanks to CEO Jürg Capol and the entire management team.”

Peter Barandun, interim President of Swiss-Ski, praised the seamless cooperation between host communities Lantsch/Lenz, Vaz/Obervaz, Churwalden, and Swiss-Ski, calling the event a “wonderful showcase of teamwork and dedication.”
