IBU Regional Events: Alpencup (GER) and Baltic Cup (FIN) are in the books

As part of the of IBU Regional Events series, both the O.P.A. Biathlon Alpencup in Oberwiesenthal, Germany, and the Baltic Biathlon Cup in Imatra, Finland, took place on the 16th and 17th of December, 2023.

Oberwiesenthal, Germany, hosted the O.P.A. Biathlon Alpencup. This event was unique because it included the German National Cup competitions. Over 350 athletes from countries like Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Czechia, Great Britain, the Netherlands, and Mongolia came together to compete in this event. They enjoyed great conditions at the venue, although the sunny and windy weather added an exciting challenge.

Thanks to the Organizing Committee and over 100 hardworking volunteers, the event was a huge success. Their efforts ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone. The prize-giving ceremonies, held at the Oberwiesenthal marketplace, were not just about awards but also celebrated the spirit of biathlon and the community behind it.

Another amazing event in the series was the Baltic Biathlon Cup, held in Imatra, Finland, on the same dates. This event brought together over 200 athletes from Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. They too enjoyed excellent conditions and good weather, contributing to a fantastic competitive atmosphere.

The organization of this event was equally impressive, with the Organizing Commitee playing a key role in its smooth execution.

In both events, the athletes' skills and sportsmanship were on full display, making these competitions a highlight of this year's biathlon calendar.
