Riethmueller and Randby triumph in the Lake Placid Pursuit

Danilo Riethmueller of Germany and Gro Randby of Norway won in the Pursuit at the IBU Cup in Lake Placid. Randby backed her Sprint win with another first place finish.

Riethmueller’s calm shooting wins the day

Riethmueller, second after the Sprint, missed one shot in the prone, took the lead after the second shooting, and kept his focus firmly on the targets as his challengers continued to miss on another windy day in Lake Placid, with the tracks slow due to fresh snow. He won in 33:02.1. Ole Suhrke of Norway, third after the Sprint, with 15/20, finished second, 1:03.5 behind Riethmueller. The Sprint winner, Sverre Dahlen Aspenes of Norway, despite missing eight shots, finished third, 2:17 behind the winner.

Gaetan Paturel of France, sixth in today’s Pursuit, kept the narrow lead in the Total Score standings with 828 points, 18 ahead of his teammate Damien Levet, who finished fifth today. Paturel also won the Pursuit Score title.
