It all happened in Salzburg

During the three days at the 15th Ordinary IBU Congress 2022, the Executive Board elections, the Technical Committee elections, the selections of the IBU World Championships 2027, the updates of the IBU World Championships Oberhof 2023, Nove Mesto na Morave 2024 Lenzerheide 2025, and a variety of workshops connected the biathlon family in person after two years of COVID-19-related health restrictions. While many significant decisions were taken, the participants found time and space to discuss biathlon-related and more relaxing matters.

Making sure it all went according to the constitution

Louise Reilly, the Chair of the Biathlon Integrity Unit, and Greg McKenna, the Head of Biathlon Integrity Unit - together with their respective colleagues - made sure that all the decisions taken at the 15th Ordinary IBU Congress were following the IBU Constitution.

Assuring further enhancement of the events' standards

IBU Sport & Event Director Daniel Boehm and the BMW IBU World Cup Race Director Borut Nunar updated the participants on the latest implementations of the objectives set in Target 26.

Just exchanging Secretary General's views

The former IBU Secretary Niclas Carlsson and the incoming IBU General Secretary Max Cobb sat down to exchange their experiences, views, and ideas on managing IBU's day-to-day operations.

Kaisa Makarainen in the role of presenter

One of the biathlon's all-time greats, Kaisa Makarainen, was part of the team that presented Kontiolahti's candidacy for the IBU World Championships 2027. Kaisa has recently also got appointed to the IBU Technical Committee.

Mr. Biathlon says goodbye, but stays in biathlon

Franz Berger, the former BMW IBU World Cup Race Director and one of the longest-standing members of the biathlon family, was awarded the Gold IBU Medal of Honour for the Officials at the Gala Dinner.
