Aliens on Earth - and where the athletes would take them

If aliens landed on Earth, what would you show them first? We asked the biathletes where they would take our visitors from outer space to give them a taste of their home country. From flower-filled fields to treadmills, their answers reveal some fun, surprising and unique places worth visiting!

Vitalii Mandzyn - Ukraine

"I would take them to the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains. I think they are the most beautiful in my country, where you can really feel the connection between people and nature. I would show them our mountains, introduce them to our traditional Ukrainian food and, most importantly, let them experience Ukrainian hospitality.

I think the best way to understand a country is not just to see its landmarks, but to meet its people and experience their culture. And I believe the Carpathians would be a perfect place to start."

Hanna-Brita Kaasik - Estonia

"I would take them to my hometown, Põltsamaa, in Estonia! It’s a lovely little town with a beautiful castle and a river running through it. During the summer, we also had a huge flower field with paths where you could walk or run among the flowers. As someone who loves sports and being outdoors, I’d also show them the exciting developments happening in our town, including a new ski centre that is currently under construction! I think Põltsamaa is a great example of how a small town can combine history, nature and an active lifestyle. "

Vincent Bonacci - USA

"I'd take them to southern Utah! There is so much cool stuff to see there."

In southern Utah you can see the amazing canyons created by millions of years of water running through them. This part of the country is filled with many national parks, so make sure to pack your hiking boots with you!

Justus Strelow - Germany

"I would take them to a treadmill, for example in Oberhof, and show them what it means to suffer to achieve your dreams as an athlete!"

Treadmill training has many different benefits for training, as you can set the pace and keep it consistent throughout the entire workout. For testing the limits, it is also beneficial since often times athletes are hooked up, so even if they fall, they will not hurt themselves.

Graham Benson - Canada

"I'd take them to the Whistler Olympic Park where I train everyday in the summer."

Whistler Olympic Park is located in British Columbia, Canada, and it is where the Vancouver Olympics were held in 2010. With impressive mountain views, this is definitely a place for all winter sport fans to visit and experience.
