Lenzerheide 2025 Form Trends

With the IBU World Championships two weeks away, we analysed whose form is trending upwards and who passed a high-altitude test in Antholz-Anterselva before Lenzerheide 2025.

Preuss and Jeanmonnot will go head-to-head

Lou Jeanmonnot won for the fifth and sixth time in Antholz-Anterselva in 2024/2025, yet, she still trails Franziska Preuss, who won two races but has eighth further podiums (including two third places in Antholz), by 92 points in the Total Score. Jeanmonnot won 435 World Cup points in Trimester 2 to Preuss’ 314. Oceane Michelon scored 283 as the third most successful in Trimester 2.

Jeanmonnot collected the most points in the Sprint in January 2025 - 131, Selina Grotian 106, and Maren Kirkeeide 104, but Preuss leads in the Sprint Score with 298 points.

With winning both Pursuits in Trimester 2, Jeanmonnot scored 180 points to Julia Simon’s 106 and Ocean Michelon’s 105. Jeanmonnot also leads in the Pursuit Score with 293 points.

Preuss leads in the Mass Start Score with 215 points, one ahead of Ruhpolding winner Elvira Oeberg, who got sick in Antholz-Anterselva and couldn’t check her form and her body’s readiness for the high-altitude battles in Lenzerheide. Jeanne Richard is third with 149 points.

As for the Individual, Jeanmonnot has won both editions in 2024/2025 and is a heavy favourite for Lenzerheide.

Don't forget about . . . Braisaz-Bouchet

Jeanmonnot, Preuss, Richard, Michelon, Julia Simon, Selina Grotian, and Amy Baserga finished in the Top 10 in Antholz-Anterselva - a sign of strength on a high-altitude before Lenzerheide 2025. But one shouldn’t count out Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, who won a rare Sprint-Pursuit-Mass Start triple at the World Championships rehearsal last December. She will need to improve her accuracy as 75% will not win her medals in Lenzerheide 2025.

Laegreid feels confident

The most impactful decision of the season fell during Christmas in Johannes Thingnes Boe’s house. He couldn’t imagine how on Earth he would muster the energy and motivation to prepare for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. Johannes went through the motions in Oberhof and partly in Ruhpolding before he announced that he would retire at the end of the season. It is impossible to put the emotions of one of the greatest biathletes in any algorithm, but they must have played a part in Boe’s form drop in Trimester 2. And as Johannes dealt with his fast-approaching new reality - Sturla Holm Laegreid switched gears. Numbers tell the unfolding story.

With 120, Laegreid scored the most points in the Sprint in Trimester 2, closely followed by Tarjei Boe with 115 and Martin Uldal with 105. Laegreid is also the Sprint Score leader with 279 points.

Since he won both Pursuits in 2025, Laegreid collected 180 points in Trimester 2. Again, Tarjei Boe was the closest challenger to Sturla, collecting 150 points to Johannes’ 110. Sturla and Johannes co-lead in the Pursuit Score with 290 points.

Laegreid also leads in the Mass Start Score with 195 points to Johannes’ 164 and Tarjei’s 156.

Ender Stroemsheim leads in the Individual Score based on his season-opening win in the Short Individual in Kontiolahti. But since falling sick in Annecy - Le Grand-Bornand, he has not (yet) found the energy to compete for higher.

Laegreid and Tarjei Boe excelled at the high altitude in Antholz-Anterselva, winning once and finishing second once each. Tommaso Giacomel was third two times. Johannes, Martin Uldal, Jakov Fak, and Eric Perrot finished in the Top 10 in the Sprint and Pursuit, whereas Emilien Jacquelin and Sebastian Samuelsson finished outside the Top 10.

Laegreid won 400 points in Trimester 2, Tarjei 321 and Johannes 237. Quentin Fillon Maillet bettered Johannes by 20 points as the third-best-performing athlete in 2025.

A year ago . . . Johannes was the boss in Lenzerheide

Johannes won the Pursuit and Mass Start in Lenzerheide last winter. Laegreid was fourth in the Sprint and third in the Pursuit. Tarjei was third in the Mass Start. But then, French men didn’t really hit the proper form for a bigger part in 2023/2024. This season, they are a formidable force again.
