The biggest World Cup points movers

We prepared an analysis, looking at the biggest World Cup points movers in Trimester 1 in the 2023/2024 season compared to Trimester 1 in the 2022/2023 season.

We also checked how their ski speed improved in Trimester 1 from last to the running season.

Women: Big moves for Preuss and Tandrevold

If we look into the athletes who wore Yellow bibs - bar Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, who skipped the last season and got in Yellow after the Mass Start in Lenzerheide - we see that Franziska Preuss skied 2.1% faster in Trimester 1 in the 2023/2024 season compared the Trimester 1 in the 2022/2023 season and won 32.7 points more per race than in the same period last winter. Lou Jeanmonnot skied 1.9% faster and won 25.8 more points per competition. Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold skied 1.7% quicker and won 8.5 points per competition.

Men: Tarjei Boe on fire in Trimester 1

As Tarjei Boe says in his interview, JT Boe started the new season slowly by his standards. That made room for the other athletes to wear a Yellow bib before JT took over in Lenzerheide and went home for Christmas in yellow. Sebastian Samuelsson skied out of this world in Oestersund and got his yellow days in Hochfilzen (before falling sick in Lenzerheide). He skied 3.0 faster in Trimester 1 in the 2023/2024 season compared to Trimester 1 in the 2022/2023 season and won 24.1 points more per race than in the same period last winter. Philipp Nawrath, who took the yellow bib from Roman Rees (who fell sick in Oestersund week), skied 2.6% faster and won 24.1 points more per race than in the same period last winter. But the biggest mover was Tarjei, who wore yellow for two days in Lenzerheide, skied 0.5% quicker, and won 29.5 points more per race than in the same period the previous winter.
