Would you have ever thought of that?

Behind the plain-sighted achievements of the BMW IBU World Cup Total Score winners Marte Olsbu Roeiseland and Quentin Fillon Maillet, some other athletes posted staggering statistics. One name stands out for the consistency of her ski speed: Justine Braisaz-Bouchet. Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen and Elvira Oeberg also achieved remarkable numbers. The stats contain all individual competitions from the world cup and Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022.

The fastest course times

Braisaz-Bouchet clocked the fastest course time 11 times (out of 26 individual competitions), which translates into 42% of the time. Nobody came even close to Justine's combination of speed and stamina.

The fastest individual laps

Competing every world cup week in the Olympic 2021/2022 season, Braisaz-Bouchet posted 38 fastest individual laps out of 110, spread among 10 sprints, eight pursuits, five mass starts, and three individuals. That translates into 34.5% of laps. Justine had the two fastest individual laps in her wins in the individual in Antholz-Anterselva and the mass start in Oslo-Holmenkollen, which also brought her Mass Start Score to win. The fastest fourth lap in the Beijing 2022 mass start made all the difference in the swirling winds of Zhangjiakou as Justine seized the opportunity and won a gold in the mass start.

JT Boe skied 20 fastest individual laps out of only 73 as he skipped Ruhpolding, Kontiolahti, Otepaeae, and Oslo weeks. This further means that JT was the fastest in 27% of the individual laps. Elvira Oeberg had 28 and Quentin Fillon Maillet 16 fastest individual laps. Justine and Elvira cumulatively skied 66 fastest individual laps (or 60% of all individual laps in 2021/2022).

Number of the fastest laps

Elvira Oeberg's 'Never Say Die' approach brought her four individual wins in the BMW IBU World Cup, second place in the Total Score standings, two individual medals at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games and above all helped Swedish women relay become the dominant force. She had seven fastest last lap times, Braisaz-Bouchet and Fillon Maillet five and Tarjei Boe four.

Number of the consecutive targets hist

Riding high on his Olympic success, Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen hit the sweet spot in his shooting form in the last trimester, as he consequently cleared 73 targets, starting in the sprint of Kontiolahti and finishing in the Oslo-Holmenkollen pursuit.
