Benedikt Doll announces retirement

Germany's Benedikt Doll has announced that he will retire from the sport at the end of the current BMW IBU World Cup season.

A week after claiming bronze in the Men Individual at the BMW IBU World Championships Biathlon in Nove Mesto Na Morave, Germany's Benedikt Doll has announced that he will hang up his rifle at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old is a six-time winner at World Cup and World Championship-level, with his first and most memorable victory coming at the World Championships 2017 in Hochfilzen in the sprint.

Once you notice it gets tougher to really prepare 100% for every single competition, that's when I told myself "It's enough", I will wrap up my career. Another reason is that I wanted to spend more time with my family. You're more or less on the road half the year if you're a biathlon. Also I really want to do something new now, I want to look into the future and take on new challenges - but before that there are still three World Cup and I'll attack in those.
