Vote for your Athlete of the Week: Kontiolahti 2026

Perfect spring weather and a sea of Finnish flags set the stage for the first weekend of the final trimester. From impressive podium streaks to an exciting relay and some truly sharp shooting, it was a weekend full of standout performances. Now it’s your turn: which one of these four athletes deserves the title this week?

Elvira Oeberg (SWE) stepped on the podium in every competition this weekend: from winning in individual and being second in the mass start, as well as anchoring the team to victory in the women's relay. This makes her Kontiolahti podium streak go to 9 consecutive podiums. Seems like the Swede really loves the Finnish tracks.

Vetle Sjastaad Christiansen (NOR) put his best foot forward in the races. He shot clean in the individual, resulting in third place, following a great leg in the relay, which scored the Norwegian team to victory. Sunday was another great day for Christiansen as he scored another third place in the mass start.

Paulina Batovska-Fialkova (SVK) just announced her retirement, but it did not slow her down. The Slovakian biathlon star missed only one shot in the individual, resulting in a third place. The mass start was also not too bad as she finished in 8th place.

Eric Perrot (FRA) not only won the individual race in Kontiolahti with 20-out-of-20 shooting but also secured the individual score, making it his first globe of the season. The French took two more podiums in Kontiolahti as the team came in second in the relay on Saturday, and he took another second place in Sunday's mass start.

Which one of these four biathletes deserves the Athlete of the Week title from Kontiolahti? Vote now in the poll, you have until Monday 20 CET!
