Vote for your Surpriser of the World Cup season 2025-2026
The best part about biathlon is that you can never know how the race will turn out until the finish line. This season, we got many examples of this and got to witness some great surprises in the result list. Now it is your time to decide which one of these four biathletes is your Surpriser of the World Cup season!
Estere Volfa (LAT) might be just 21 years old, but she is a force to be reckoned with. Volfa came to the Otepaa World Cup straight from the successful Junior World Championships and took her first-ever TOP10 placing with a 9th place in the sprint. The pressure didn't show with the young Latvian, as she managed to steal a 13th place also in the pursuit. In the end, Volfa was the best Latvian woman in the total score.
Camille Bened (FRA) made her World Cup debut at the end of the season 2024-2025 in Holmenkollen, but little did she know that at the start of the new season, she would step on the podium. The French shot just one miss in the Oestersund individual and secured a third place. She took another podium in Ruhpolding pursuit and finished the season in 10th place in the total score.
Isak Leknes Frey (NOR) is one to watch. He is just 22-years-old but already a strong competitor in the World Cup. Frey secured his career's first podium in the Ruhpolding sprint with a third place. The strong season got rewarded in the end as he won the U23 globe.
Marlene Fichtner (GER) might have had some bad luck in the Nove Mesto Na Morave single mixed relay, but that was just a blip in her otherwise great season. Fichtner peaked at the start of the third trimester as she attended her career's first flower ceremonies with a 5th place in individual and 4th place in the mass start.
Now it is your time to decide which one of them deserves the Surpriser of the World Cup season title! Vote in the poll below; you have until Tuesday 18 CET.
