IBU publishes Winter Regional Events calendar for season 2026/2027

The International Biathlon Union (IBU) has confirmed the 2026/2027 Regional Winter Events Calendar, featuring 23 Regional Events across six regions. For the first time, the calendar also includes a Regional Winter Event in Asia, marking another important step in the global expansion of the sport.

Regional Events remain a key pillar of the IBU Development Programme, providing National Federations with the opportunity to organize high-quality international competitions for youth and junior athletes. By encouraging regional cooperation and offering meaningful international racing opportunities, these events help athletes progress, support the development of organizers and officials, and strengthen collaboration between National Federations.

With the introduction of the IBU Qualification Points (QP) system for the 2026/2027 season, Regional Events will play an even greater role in the athlete pathway. Eligible competitions may award Qualification Points, helping athletes meet the participation requirements for the IBU Junior Cup, Junior World Championships, and IBU Cup. To ensure eligibility, all participating athletes must have an active Biathlon Family Profile, and competition results will be processed and published through the IBU Datacenter.

The Regional Winter Events Calendar offers young athletes an important opportunity to gain international racing experience, benchmark their performance against competitors from other nations, and prepare for higher levels of competition.
