Julia Simon’s Perfect Anchor Leg Brings France Mixed Relay Gold

French anchor Julia Simon’s fast 10-for-10 shooting and a powerful track performance brought France the Olympic Mixed Relay Gold medal this afternoon in 1:0415.5. Simon, Lou Jeanmonnot, Quentin Fillon Maillet and Eric Perrot used seven spares to claim the first biathlon Gold medal at these Milan/Cortina Olympic Winter Games.

The home team Italy with Lisa Vitozzi, Dorothea Wierer, Lukas Hofer, and Tommaso Giacomel had five spares in their Silver medal performance, 25.8 seconds back. Germany anchored by Franziska Preuss after Vanessa Voigt, Philipp Nawrath, and Justus Strelow won Bronze, with a penalty and three spares, 1:05.3 back.
