Julia Simon came to the BMW IBU World Cup circuit full-time in the 2018/19 season. Before that promotion, she was very successful on the junior level winning two IBU YJWCH medals, as well as a Junior European Championship title and an IBU Junior Cup competition. Stepping up to the IBU Cup level, she added two IBU OECH medals and an IBU Cup sprint win at Martell in 2017. Simon broke through to the top ranks in the 2019/20 season with four individual podiums, several relay podiums, and a mixed relay win at Pokljuka. However she saved the best for last, taking her first-ever BMW IBU World Cup victory in the season-ending Kontiolahti pursuit.
