Hanna Oeberg has been a champion at every level of biathlon. After winning two IBU Junior World Championships in 2016, she moved to Sweden’s BMW IBU World Cup team the next season. A year of experience at biathlon’s top level prepared her for the biggest stage of all, the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. After 5th and 7th in the sprint and pursuit, the 22-year-old Oeberg stunned the veteran field, shooting clean to win the Olympic Women’s 15 km Individual Gold medal. She capped her first OWG by anchoring the Swedish women’s relay to the Silver medal. Oeberg proved that her Olympic win was no fluke by taking the IBU WCH 15 km Individual Gold medal, as well as Single Mixed Silver and Relay Bronze the next season in her home Oestersund stadium. The 2019/20 BMW IBU World Cup season was arguably her most successful with an IBU WCH Bronze medal in the mass start and six additional podiums over the course of the season. Oeberg’s week-in, week-out top six results gave her a personal best fourth place in the World Cup Total Score.
Oeberg’s unassuming personality, which finds her crocheting in her spare time, hides an unflappable competitor who consistently shoots well.
