The IBU is working hard to ensure that biathlon competitions can be held despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and in a manner that protects the health and wellbeing of all involved.

The IBU is committed to keeping all members of the biathlon family up-to-date with the latest information. This page will provide all the information you need regarding the implications of COVID-19 on the sport of biathlon. It will include the latest updates regarding the IBU competition calendar for the 2020/21 season, health regulations that will be implemented at events and other useful information.

World Cup 10, Östersund, SWE

21.03.2021

The IBU has run the final round of SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests for event participants at the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon in Östersund, Sweden.

All 530 tests conducted since Friday were negative.

In total, the IBU has conducted over 15,000 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests at the World Cups and World Championships this season. There were 55 positive cases resulting in quarantine and isolation.

The IBU has conducted over 600 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests for event participants at the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon in Östersund, Sweden.

One member of the Organising Committee (OC) tested positive. In addition, the OC has conducted 500 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests. One OC staff tested positive. Both positively tested persons have been quarantined. Neither teams nor athletes are affected.

So far this season, the IBU has conducted 14700 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests at the World Cups and World Championships. There were 55 positive cases resulting in quarantine and isolation.

Word Cups 8-9, NMNM, CZE

14.03.2021

The IBU has conducted further 500 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests for event participants at the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic.

One staff member of the Swedish team tested positive. The positively tested person and potential contacts have been isolated. Decisions about quarantine by the Czech health authorities are pending. No athletes are affected.

So far this season, the IBU has conducted 14300 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests at the World Cups and World Championships. There were 54 positive cases resulting in quarantine and isolation.

At the final test round for the IBU Cup in Obertilliach, Austria, one staff member of the US team tested positive. The positively tested person has been isolated. Contract tracing by the Austrian health authorities is ongoing.

At the IBU Cup and the Open European Championships more than 4600 SARS-CoV-2 PCR were conducted this season. There were 11 positive cases.

The IBU has conducted further SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests for event participants at the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic.

This week 630 tests have been conducted by the IBU. All tests were negative. In addition, the Organising Committee (OC) has conducted over 500 tests, which resulted in four positive cases (two new cases since Wednesday). The respective persons have been quarantined and authorities trace potential contacts.

So far this season, the IBU has conducted 13800 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests. There were 53 positive cases resulting in quarantine and isolation.

At the IBU Cup in Obertilliach, Austria, the IBU has conducted close to 5400 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests this week. All tests were negative.

This week 550 tests have been conducted by the IBU. All tests were negative. In addition, the Organising Committee (OC) has conducted almost 400 tests, which resulted in two positive cases. The respective persons have been quarantined and authorities trace potential contacts.

So far this season, the IBU has conducted 13750 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests. There were 53 positive cases resulting in quarantine and isolation.

In addition, the Organising Committee (OC) has conducted further 200 tests yesterday, which resulted in one positive case. The respective person, an OC volunteer, has been quarantined and authorities trace potential contacts.

So far this season, the IBU has conducted 12800 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests. There were 53 positive cases resulting in quarantine and isolation.

At the IBU Youth and Junior World Championships in Obertilliach, Austria, the IBU has conducted 1900 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests in the past week. All tests were negative.

The IBU has started to conduct SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests for event participants at the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic.

This week close to 600 tests have been conducted by the IBU. All tests were negative. In addition, the Organising Committee (OC) has conducted over 500 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests over the past days, which resulted in two positive results by OC staff. The positively tested persons did not have any contact with members of the core event group.

So far this season, the IBU has conducted 12700 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests this season. There were 53 positive cases resulting in quarantine and isolation.

The IBU has conducted final SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests for event participants at the IBU World Championships Biathlon in Pokljuka, Slovenia.

One person from the media sector tested positive.

At the World Championships, the IBU has conducted 3300 tests with 11 positive results. In total, the IBU has conducted 12200 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests this season. There were 53 positive cases resulting in quarantine and isolation.

At the IBU Cup in Brezno-Osrblie, Slovakia 1000 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests have been conducted over the past two weeks. All tests were negative.

Over the last days, the IBU has conducted further SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests for event participants at the IBU World Championships Biathlon in Pokljuka, Slovenia.

There are no new positive cases to report.

At the World Championships, the IBU has conducted 2800 tests with 10 positive results. In total, the IBU has conducted 11.700 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests this season. There were 52 positive cases resulting in quarantine and isolation.

At the IBU Cup in Brezno-Osrblie, Slovakia 800 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests have been conducted over the past two weeks. All tests were negative.

One person, a media representative, tested positive. The local health authorities have been informed and will evaluate the positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests and trace contacts.

At the World Championships, the IBU has conducted 2500 tests with 10 positive results. In total, the IBU has conducted 11.400 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests this season. There were 52 positive cases resulting in quarantine and isolation.

At the IBU Cup in Brezno-Osrblie, Slovakia over 500 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests have been conducted last week. All tests were negative.

Over the last days, the IBU has conducted further SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests for event participants at the IBU World Championships Biathlon in Pokljuka, Slovenia.

Five persons tested positive, all five work in the media sector. The local health authorities have been informed and will evaluate the positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests and trace contacts.

At the World Championships, the IBU has conducted 2100 tests with 9 positive results. In total, the IBU has conducted over 11.000 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests this season. There were 51 positive cases resulting in quarantine and isolation.

At the IBU Cup in Brezno-Osrblie, Slovakia over 500 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests have been conducted last week. All tests were negative.

The IBU has conducted further SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests for event participants at the IBU World Championships Biathlon in Pokljuka, Slovenia, and the IBU Cup in Osrblie, Slovakia.

All 360 tests in Pokljuka and all 350 tests in Osrblie were negative.

The IBU has conducted further SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests for event participants at the IBU World Championships Biathlon in Pokljuka, Slovenia.

One volunteer of the Organising Committee tested positive. The local health authorities have been informed and will evaluate the positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests.

So far this week, the IBU has conducted 1200 tests with 4 positive results.

10.02.2021

The IBU has started to conduct SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests for event participants at the IBU World Championships Biathlon in Pokljuka, Slovenia.

So far this week 770 tests were conducted. One staff member of the Austrian team and two media staff tested positive. The local health authorities have been informed and will evaluate the positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests. The contact tracing is ongoing. All three persons have been isolated.

So far this season, the IBU has conducted almost 9800 SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests at the World Cups in Kontiolahti, Hochfilzen, Oberhof, Antholz and Pokljuka. There were 45 positive cases resulting in quarantine and isolation.

So far this season, the IBU has conducted almost 9,000 SARS-COV-2 PCR tests at the World Cups in Kontiolahti, Hochfilzen, Oberhof and Antholz. There were 42 positive cases resulting in quarantine and isolation. At the IBU Cups in Arber and the OECH in Duszniki Zdroj about 3000 tests were conducted; there were 8 positive cases resulting in quarantine and isolation.
