World's best Para Biathletes ready for Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Games

In just a few days the world's best Para Biathletes will take to the snow in Val di Fiemme as Para Biathlon makes its mark on the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games.

Across three intense and exciting competition days, the Tesero Cross-Country Skiing Stadium will host 18 medal events that promise to be among the most captivating of the entire Games, showcasing the extraordinary skill, determination and endurance of the world's best Para Biathletes.

More than 140 Para Biathletes from 21 National Paralympic Committees will compete across the Standing, Sitting and Vision Impaired categories, contesting Sprint events on 7 March, Individual events on 8 March and Sprint Pursuit events on 13 March, with the latter making its Paralympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026. The programme features full gender parity with nine events each for men and women and is the first time Para Biathlon will be held under the governance of the IBU at a Paralympic Games.

The competitions will showcase the full depth of Para Biathlon's unique blend of speed, endurance and precision. Among those set to compete are 2025 Para Biathlon world champion Aaron Pike (USA); three-time Paralympic medallist at Beijing 2022 Leonie Maria Walter (GER), and eight-time Paralympic medallist Mark Arendz (CAN).

All Para Biathlon competitions are broadcast live on Eurovision’s OTT platform eurovisionsport.com, whilst live timing and results are available on the IBU App and website www.biathlonworld.com.

IBU President Olle Dahlin said:

“Para Biathlon has always had the power to inspire. Watching our athletes compete at the highest level, overcoming extraordinary challenges with extraordinary skill reminds us why sport matters. For the IBU, these Games carry special significance as it is the first time we have governed Para Biathlon at a Paralympic Games. We are committed to ensuring that as many people as possible can experience, enjoy and participate in biathlon and we hope that the performances in Val di Fiemme will inspire a new generation of athletes to take up the sport.”

The IBU took over governance of Para Biathlon from the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) in 2022 and works in close cooperation with the IPC to grow the sport at all levels.
