Successful Conclusion of 1st IBU Mentorship Programme

Over the course of the past 8 months, the IBU ran its first mentorship programme, finishing on 22 September 2022.

In its first edition, the Mentorship Programme focused on females in the biathlon family, working or aspiring to work in management positions.

All mentees were assigned two mentors, one with a biathlon background, and the other with a business background – allowing them to develop their leadership skills and promote their professionalism in the field of biathlon and beyond. All participants were asked to evaluate the inaugural programme and provided encouraging and constructive feedback. During the final sessions, all participants confirmed that the programme positively influenced their behaviour and enhanced their career development, with 50% stating the goals they set for themselves at the beginning of the programme have been accomplished.

“It was both an exciting and rewarding experience in developing a leadership mindset and thinking big”, said Dagmara Gerasimuk, IBU Development Director. “This year we focused on females in management positions. Next time, we aim to offer the programme to male and female candidates.”

About the Mentorship Programme:

As part of its Gender Equality efforts, the IBU started its first Mentorship Programme in partnership with SHESKILLZGLOBAL with 17 participants in November 2021. After a kick of meeting in December, the mentees participated in 4 sessions with their mentors to share professional experiences and competence. An in-person meeting at the IBU Headquarters took place in June 2022, with IBU President Olle Dahlin among the attendees.
