The IBU Youth Development Camp concluded another successful edition in Nové Město na Moravě, with 76 young athletes from 21 National Federations benefiting from a week of intense training, expert coaching, and fun. Held under perfect autumn conditions, the camp provided a dynamic program designed to enhance biathlon skills and overall athletic development.
Supported by funding from the IOC`s Olympic Solidarity Program y, the camp’s training schedule was led by top-level Czech coaches, including Ondřej Rybář, Sport Director of the Czech Biathlon Union, and Ondřej Moravec, multiple Olympic and World Championships medalist and current National Coach. Athletes participated in a variety of challenging sessions, including shooting practice, roller ski agility drills, strength training, and a fun yet intense long orienteering session.
In addition to technical training, the camp also emphasized the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth. Educational activities and seminars were incorporated into the schedule, covering topics such as mental focus and healthy living.
"This camp was a fantastic opportunity for young athletes to learn from the best and develop their skills in a supportive and challenging environment," said Michal Zichacek (NMNM OC). "We are confident that these athletes will go on to achieve great things in biathlon."
The IBU Youth Development Camp is an annual event that provides a platform for young biathletes to train and compete at a high level. The camp is part of the IBU Academy's commitment to developing the next generation of biathlon stars, made possible through the support of the IOC and Olympic Solidarity.
