Final Week of Pilot First Level Course

The third and final week of the Pilot First Level Course was held in Jakuszyce (POL). 20 coaches from 17 different NFs completed this course within the IBU Coach Education program. The focus of the week in Jakuszyce was on skiing technique, psychology, nutrition, training planning, technology, and diagnostics. On the last evening, the participants received their certificates during a nice gala dinner.

Before this final week in Poland, the coaches have accomplished two more courses which were held in May 2022 in Ruhpolding (GER) and in October 2022 in Östersund (SWE). "We are happy to see that this pilot course was a great success. The participants were very engaged, the lecturers provided knowledge at a very high level, and the chosen OCs supported us with their great venues", said Gerold Sattlecker, IBU Education Manager.

Besides academics and international experts, the courses were supported by several experienced coaches who served as IBU Educators. In Ruhpolding and Jakuszyce, Matthias Ahrens (CAN) and Knut Kuvas Brevik (NOR) lead the practical sessions, in Östersund, Jonas Johansson, Ola Ravald, and Johan Hagström served as Educators.

Since the interest of the NFs in the coach education courses is very high, the IBU decided to start another cycle of the First Level Course in May 2023, starting with a course in Hochfilzen (AUT). In April 2023, another Basic Course will be held in Salzburg (AUT) and Ruhpolding (GER). Additionally, the Pilot Second Level Course will start this year, with the first course week in September in Oberhof (GER).
