Swedish Sisters Top Kontiolahti 15 km Individual Podium; Perfect-shooting Elvira Victorious
With each stage of this evening’s Kontiolahti Women’s 15 km Individual, it looked likely that one of Sweden’s Oeberg sisters would top the podium. Hanna dominated the first three stages; then fortuned reversed as she missed once and Elvira cleaned, taking the lead, skiing to a 41:46.4 triumph, with Hanna second, 41.3 seconds back. Elvira’s victory was her first-ever in a15 km, giving her a win in every World Cup discipline and her first four-stage clean shooting day since taking the Ruhpolding Mass Start in January 2025.
Hanna, after leaving the final standing stage in third, flew around the last loop, securing second place ahead of Slovakia’s Paulina Batovska-Fialkova, also with one penalty, 45 seconds back. The Slovak’s podium was her first this season and best result since third in the 2024 Annecy Le Grand Bornand Mass Start.
Olympic Mass Start Bronze medalist Tereza Vobornikova of Czechia, shot clean in fourth place, 47.8 seconds back. Germany’s Marlene Fichtner also shot clean, recording a career-best fifth place, 1:25.9 back. The Oeberg’s teammate Anna Magnusson, with one penalty finished sixth, 1:50.4 back.
