BIU's Head part of the Independent Observer programme in Tokyo

BIU's Head Greg McKenna has been working with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as a member of their Independent Observer program for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. The IO program intends to provide oversight and instil confidence in both athletes and the public with the quality, effectiveness, and reliability of anti-doping programs during the Olympic Games.

The Observers group comprises a small, multi-skilled group including Scientists, Lawyers, and McKenna as an Investigator. They provide daily feedback on possible improvements for the program, which is being operated by the International Testing Agency (ITA), on behalf of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Following this, The Observers Group will issue post-Games reports that will formalise recommendations for the IOC, the WADA-accredited laboratory in Tokyo, the organising committees, and WADA. These recommendations are all designed to enhance anti-doping activities at future events.
