With less than six months to go until the Olympic biathlon competition begins at Milano-Cortina 2026, 186 of the 210 Olympic quota places have already been awarded to National Olympic Committees (NOCs), allowing fans to look ahead with excitement at what is to come at next year’s Games.

The full list of NOCs that have qualified and the number of quota places awarded can be found below.

The 93 men's and 93 women’s quotas were awarded to the NOCs of the teams ranked 1-20 in the 2024/2025 final Men’s and Women’s World Cup Nations Cup scores. Nations which finished between 1st and 3rd secured their NOC six quotas, nations finishing between 4th and 10th secured five quota spots for their NOCs and those finishing 11th to 20th won their NOCs four quotas.

The remaining 24 places – 12 men and 12 women – will be awarded individually based on the IBU qualifying points list as of 18 January 2026, following the BMW IBU World Cup in Ruhpolding (GER). Only athletes who are eligible to compete in IBU competitions and who represent NOCs that have not already secured quotas via the World Cup Nations Cup score will be able to qualify. A maximum of two quota places per gender can be earned by NOCs through the IBU Qualifying points list. The IBU Event & Competition rules do not provide a rule for neutral athlete participation.
