Lee takes legacy helm

Lee Hyuck Yul, President of the Korea Biathlon Union, has been appointed Chairman of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics Legacy Foundation for a three-year term, filling a position that had been vacant for more than a year.

A respected sports administrator and business leader, Lee brings extensive experience from major international events, having served as Vice-Chef de Mission at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Chef de Mission for the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics, and head of Korea House at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Under his leadership, Korean biathlon achieved a historic breakthrough at the 2025 Harbin Asian Winter Games, winning its first-ever gold medal and adding a relay silver. As chairman, Lee aims to build on the PyeongChang legacy by attracting major winter sports events, developing athletes, expanding community programmes, and strengthening the foundation’s transparency and long-term impact.
