IBU confirms approved candidates for 2026 IBU elections

The IBU today published the list of eligible candidates standing in the 2026 IBU elections following the completion of the vetting procedure conducted by the Biathlon Integrity Unit (BIU).

The elections will take place at the IBU Congress in Berchtesgaden (GER) on 17-20 September 2026.

IBU Executive Board member Tim FARCNIK of Slovenia is the sole candidate in the election for IBU President. Current IBU President Olle Dahlin will stand down after having served the maximum three four-year terms at the IBU Executive Board and two four-year terms at the head of the federation.

Sofia DOMEIJ of Sweden is running unopposed for the position of IBU Vice President.

Current IBU Treasurer Christian SCHERER of Austria is running unopposed for re-election as Treasurer.

A total of 11 candidates are standing for the reamining six seats on the IBU Executive Board:

  • Paulina BATOVSKA-FIALKOVA (Slovakia)

  • Tore BOYGARD (Norway)

  • Atanas Ivanov FURNADSHIEV (Bulgaria)

  • Tarmo KARSNA (Estonia)

  • Ivan KRULKO (Ukraine)

  • Fabien SAGUEZ (France)

  • Nathalie SANTER (Italy)

  • Stefan SCHWARZBACH (Germany)

  • Michael WALKER (Canada)

  • Elizabeth WINFIELD (Great Britain)

  • Tamara WOLF (Switzerland)

The full composition of the Executive Board must comprise at least three members of the male gender and three of the female gender.

The following 14 candidates are standing for election in the IBU Technical Committee, with 10 seats available in total:

  • Michal ZICHACEK (Czechia)

There must be at least three members of the male gender and at least three members of the female gender among those elected.
